Locust Summer Concert Series

For seven years, the community of Locust and surrounding areas have enjoyed the Concert Series in Locust’s nostalgic Town Center. The 2.5 acre lawn in the back yard of the Locust City Hall is the perfect venue for our Summer Concert Series. We always close our concert finale with a fireworks show! You won’t want to miss it!

Exhibitors from all over the southeast will convene in Dallas, North Carolina on October 13-15, 2017 for the annual ‘crank-up’ of antique steam and gasoline engines and tractors. One of the highlights of the engine show is the operational 1900 single-stand, Continental Cotton Gin and we will be ginning cotton all weekend long during the festival until we are all ginned out! Stroll the streets of downtown Waxhaw during our Autumn Treasures two-day event held annually the second weekend in October. Our biggest festival of the year, Autumn Treasures offers a lively atmosphere with a little something for everyone.

Festival Features
Local crafters display their talents and wares on Main Street, while local musicians fill the streets with song.

Your mouth will water from the sweet smell of barbecue cooking on the grills of professional and backyard barbecue teams on Friday and Saturday during the Grill’n & Chill’n BBQ Cook-Off. Sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society, over 25 teams will compete for prize money and state championship titles.

For car buffs, be sure to join us on Saturday for the American Legion Hometown Heroes show featuring classic, antique and custom cars, trucks and motorcycles.

Bring the whole family and make a day of it.  Our Kids Zone features inflatables, carnival rides, pony rides, petting zoo, a children’s entertainment stage, and kid’s crafts.

Tour de Pig Cycling Event

The Tour de Pig is a fundraiser for the Mental Health Assoc. in Davidson Co. and is an official event of the Barbecue Festival in Lexington, NC. Routes are available for all levels of ability. There are 100K, 50K, 35K, and 20K routes all starting and ending at the DavidsonCo.Community College campus. Pre-registered riders receive a Tour de Pig shirt, a collectible patch, and a barbecue lunch. The ride is furnished with rest stops and ride support.
