Circle K Speed Street presented by Coca-Cola will be rocking the streets of Charlotte May 25-27 with live entertainment, access to racing’s brightest stars, giveaways and interactive displays.

Each day starting at noon, festival attendees will gather on Tryon Street in Uptown Charlotte to enjoy vendor displays, kid’s activities, racing-related fun and more until 8 p.m. Then local, regional and national headliners will take the Coca-Cola stage starting at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are only $15 to enjoy Friday and Saturday night headliners and $10 for Thursday night entertainment. All other activities are free.

Plymouth is excited to host the 3rd Annual North Carolina Black Bear Festival on June 2-4, 2017! The largest black bears on the planet are found in eastern North Carolina. The highest concentration of black bears in the world is here on the Albemarle – Pamlico Peninsula. The purpose of this festival is to educate the public about these magnificent animals and celebrate this important North Carolina native.

The Black Bear Festival will take place on the banks of the Roanoke River in Plymouth’s nationally registered Historic District. More specifically, the festival will be set up in the large grass park on the east end of Water St. next to the Port O’Plymouth Museum (this is one of 3 museums in 3 blocks on Plymouth’s waterfront).

The Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce is proud to be hosting the 32nd Annual Carolina Beach Music Festival on Saturday, June 3rd, 2017 on the beach strand at the historic Carolina Beach Boardwalk in Carolina Beach.

On Saturday, June 3rd, ‘shaggers’ of all ages can enjoy a day of live entertainment with the hottest beach music bands in the South.  All three bands offer that laid-back style of rhythm and blues with deep roots in the Carolina Coast.  The gates will open at 10:00 am with the first band hitting the stage at 11:00 am.

Celebrating Independence Day is always a patriotic event in Kings Mountain. In honor of the turning point of the Revolutionary War’s Battle of Kings Mountain (fought just south of town), a gathering of over 20 Revolutionary re-enactor militias will be camped prior to Friday and Saturday’s celebration. This is the largest fireworks show between Charlotte and Asheville. There will be patriotic music and a parade with a large mock cannon battle prior to the fireworks.

Cotton Ginning Days

Exhibitors from all over the southeast will convene in Dallas, North Carolina on October 13-15, 2017 for the annual ‘crank-up’ of antique steam and gasoline engines and tractors. One of the highlights of the engine show is the operational 1900 single-stand, Continental Cotton Gin and we will be ginning cotton all weekend long during the festival until we are all ginned out! In addition to the engine show, many activities are planned including a Kids County Fair, Heritage Arts Area, Handmade Craft vendors and Music.  So mark your calendars and plan to join GAMTRA and Gaston County Parks & Recreation Department as we present the 29th Annual Cotton Ginning Days. As always, the food is good and admission and parking are free.
