N.C. Black Bear Festival

Plymouth is excited to host the 4th Annual North Carolina Black Bear Festival on June 1-3, 2018! The largest black bears on the planet are found in eastern North Carolina. The highest concentration of black bears in the world is here on the Albemarle – Pamlico Peninsula. The purpose of this festival is to educate the public about these magnificent animals and celebrate this important North Carolina native.

The Black Bear Festival will take place on the banks of the Roanoke River in Plymouth’s nationally registered Historic District. More specifically, the festival will be set up in the large grass park on the east end of Water St. next to the Port O’Plymouth Museum (this is one of 3 museums in 3 blocks on Plymouth’s waterfront).

Later, at 5:30pm visitors are invited to Lowe-Warner Park to enjoy live music, food trucks, vendors, ice cream, and the best small town firework show in North Carolina.

Stroll the streets of downtown Waxhaw during our Autumn Treasures two-day event held annually the second weekend in October. Our biggest festival of the year, Autumn Treasures offers a lively atmosphere with a little something for everyone.

Festival Features
Local crafters display their talents and wares on Main Street, while local musicians fill the streets with song.

Your mouth will water from the sweet smell of barbecue cooking on the grills of professional and backyard barbecue teams on Friday and Saturday during the Grill’n & Chill’n BBQ Cook-Off. Sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society, over 25 teams will compete for prize money and state championship titles.

For car buffs, be sure to join us on Saturday for the American Legion Hometown Heroes show featuring classic, antique and custom cars, trucks and motorcycles.

Bring the whole family and make a day of it.  Our Kids Zone features inflatables, carnival rides, pony rides, petting zoo, a children’s entertainment stage, and kid’s crafts.
